• I’m sure I’ve missed something obvious here…

I’ve installed Flickr Press, added in my API key and secret and selected a page. All good so far, the page lists out the albums and shows a thumbnail for each. However, when I click on any of the albums (to the link like /album/72157625269443405/mexico/), I get a 404 error.

I’m pretty sure this is going to be something simple, but for the life of me I can’t see what I’ve missed! Any pointers from anyone?

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Could you send me a link where I can see this in action? If you don’t want to post publicly, use the contact form on https://www.fergusweb.net and I will take a look.

    Hi Anthony,

    Sure thing – it’s https://stocksfamily.org/photos.

Looking at your site, it seems that something odd is happening with the path. The link rendered in the page is (for example) https://stocksfamily.org/album/72157625269443405/mexico/, which doesn’t work. If I edit this to https://stocksfamily.org/photos/album/72157625269443405/mexico/ it displays correctly.

Now to try and work out why…

    Cheers,

    Richard

Hi Richard, I think I see the issue.

In your Permalink code, do you end your permalinks with a slash?

I notice that my photos page URL is /photos/ and yours is just /photos.
The plugin uses relative URLs for linking to albums, so this may be the problem.

In the next release I’ll adjust the plugin to use absolute URLs instead to fix this issue. Meanwhile, if you add a slash to the end of your permalinks, this should fix the problem.

Could you give that a try and see if it works?

    Great, thanks Richard.

Just installed the plugin now and I am having the same problem. WordPress’s practice now is to remove all trailing slashes, and I also had a major issue with my XML sitemap involving trailing slashes, so adding one to my permalink as a workaround isn’t an option for me.

Is a new release coming soon? I’ve added the /photos/ line to test for the pages to come up and they display beautifully.

    Hi Lincoln,

Please see comment on my own site here: https://www.fergusweb.net/software/flickr-press/#comment-539

Basically I’ve had quite a few people report the permalink issue, and I have a fix here: Beta Version 1.3.2

I’m not quite ready to release this via www.remarpro.com though. Please give this update a try and see if it solves your problem. Feedback (success or failure) would be welcome!

Thanks so much! I have installed it and so far everything loads as it shoulds. When I’m feeling brave I’ll enable comments to see if they show up under the photos as well. ??
