I am just now realizing that the FS Contact Form plugin is not working on my site. Whenever I try and send a test email I get the error message “Could not instantiate mail function.”

Here is my situation, in case any of these factor into the issue –

    • I’m using BlueHost Web hosting
    • This website is actually a subdomain of my main website, but has it’s own URL
    • I am using Google Apps for the main email address for this website
    • I have forwarding set up through my Google Apps account, and this forwards the mail to my GMail account
    • I’ve already made sure the ‘Email To:’ address matches the ‘Custom E-mail From:’ address, and the ‘Enable when web host requires “Mail From” strictly tied to domain email account.’ box is checked

Any help is MUCH appreciated. This is a wedding website, so it’s crucial for this form to work.

Make sure that your “E-mail To: ” and your “Custom E-mail From (optional):” are both set to an email address which is from your own domain name, and that the said email address exists in your cPanel in the Email Accounts icon. If it doesn’t exist, it won’t work.

    Thanks for replying, bh_WP_fan!

I am using a Google Apps email address though that I have tied to my domain name.

I want to bypass BlueHost’s email and just have everything go straight to my Google Apps account.

I love BlueHost. This has all been worked out.

Just in case anyone else needs help with this – BlueHost has a Google Apps Wizard in the cPanel under Domains. If you’ve already set up a Google Apps account/email, this will take 2 seconds. Just click through, check the box next to Google Mail, and whatever else you may want, and you’re done.

My mail is coming through perfectly now.
