[Plugin: Facebook, Twitter & Google Social Widgets] twitter unavailable > site doesn't

I just realised that when twitter is anavailable, my site stops loading (Waiting for platform.twitter.com). Shouldn’t the plug in let the rest of the site load or does it depend on something else?
