• I’ve installed the plugin and it’s working fine except that I’m getting an error message below the comments “This plugin requires an href parameter”.

I’ve looked at the FAQ on the plugin site, several other people have experienced the same issue but there’s no solution posted.

In addition, there’s a large gap between the FB comments and the actual comment form on the page. Is there any way to remove that extra spacing.

Lastly, the comment section is rather narrow. There are multiple CSS files for this plugin. I’m not able to determine which one controls the width of the comment boxes. When looking at any of the CSS files in the Editor, all show as ‘Inactive’ at the top of the page.

    Thank you.

No one else is experiencing this or has figured out how to fix it?

Regarding the error- do you have a Facebook Like Widget going too? I got this Facebook Comments error when I had the comments and the widget activated at the same time.

Get the code for the Like Box as an iframe (and not HTML5 or xfbml) and the Comments error should go away.

Thanks. No, it was just the plugin on its own. After emailing the developer directly and not getting a response, I ended up bagging the plugin and doing it directly with the code from FB, as you noted. Seems to be working fine now.

I have the same problem, I will try to add the FB code directly too.
Anyone knows if maybe we haven’t added the URL of our site somewhere in the Facebook application? Do we have to choose something in “Select how your app integrates with Facebook” ?

Photog – you said you bagged the plug-in and did it directly. Can you offer any instructions/tips/links to show us how to do this? I’d really like to be able to optimize my FB integration. (And I currently have the same problem with the yellow box complaining about the HREF thing, but don’t know how to fix it.)

How do you add the Facebook code directly? I’m repeating what altoidboy just said. Thanks!

Pelauria, I would recommend you follow the instructions here:

    https://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/add-facebook-comments-to-your-wordpress-theme/

I used to have the FB Comments for WP plug-in installed, but found it buggy, and the developer has been unresponsive for a year now. I had to abandon that plug-in, then followed the instructions above, and now have a bug-free Facebook commenting system. The bummer is that I was unable to retrieve my XID from the plug-in, and therefore, I lost all of my comments (hundreds of them) that were entered through the plug-in. I wish I could get them back, but it’s proven impossible to figure out. Anyway, from here on out, I’m embedding FB comments directly and am happy I did so.

I love Altoids, altoidboy! ?? However, this is WAY over my head. Not even sure where to look for <head> ?? Can I hire you?

Hmmm…I’m hesitant. I’m not a professional developer. I know enough about this stuff to be able to follow those instructions, but not much deeper. Send me a mail at [ email redacted ] and let me know the URL of your site so I can see how far you’ve gotten so far.
