• Hi,

    I use facebook-comments-for-wordpress lastest version 2.1.2 and WP3.0.5.
I have php5+ and mod_curl activated on the server.
I tried to activate this plugin locally, but couldn’t even activate it – got a timeout error message –

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in D:\xampp\htdocs\*****\wp-content\plugins\facebook-comments-for-wordpress\scripts\facebook.php on line 612

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in D:\xampp\htdocs\***\wp-includes\wp-db.php on line 561

I must activate it locally in order to configure it and style it inside the whole page’s layout.
I’d appreciate your help and guiding how can this plugin be activated locally.

By the way, older versions of the plugins (which I think did not use the cURL) – did work on a local server.

    Thanks

Does your blog have a lot of posts?

The first time you activate the newer version of the plugin, it caches your comment counts, so you must be connected to the Internet to activate it. After that, you should be able to use it locally, but note that comment counts will not be updated and email notifications will not work. Custom CSS won’t work either. These all require a connection to the Facebook API.

@graham thanks for your quick reply.

I am connected to the Internet all the time, but the site I’m working on is still under development and thus is still located on my computer using XAMPP environment.
How can this be solved to activate the plugin on a local site? Connection to the Internet does exits..

Of course, since I cannot activate it, I cannot even enter the app API id..

This is blog on development, so only about 40 demo posts and 10 demo comments, not a big db..
