• I’ve had the EZPZ plugin on for a few versions of wordpress because it seems to be the only plugin capable of sending an archived version of the site to dropbox. Unfortunately it is plagued with problems:

-Support: I’ve posted questions to the author’s ‘support’ section (comments at the bottom of the EZPZ backup page) and it just remained “awaiting moderation” and eventually just disappeared.
-After a few weeks it stopped sending backups to dropbox at all, but i didn’t receive a specific warning, just noticed that the “backup complete” emails stopped arriving
-The DB backups were empty, just 16 lines of comments and nothing more!!!
-Eventually fails completely and results in a “No Results Found” page when using EZPZ admin

This could be a great plugin if these huge failures are addressed, but until then I’ll look elsewhere.

  • I was seriously considering this plugin as a good solution to WP backups. I especially like the Dropbox feature. Unfortunately there are many unanswered questions here and no response at the author’s web site.

So, obviously, I’ve changed my mind.

The best free solution i’ve found so far is BackWPup + SugarSync. It supports Dropbox as well but on my host (DreamHost) I get out of memory errors when it attempts to send to dropbox, but not sugarsync. Perhaps you’ll have better results on your host. I’m not normally a SugarSync user but they offer 5GB of free space.

It’s not perfect, but so far it is at least working.
