[Plugin: Events Manager] Issues after 5.1.1 to 5.1.6 upgrade – 404 on Events page

This page simply uses the events_list shortcode. It used to be the Events page:

This is the current Events page and gives a 404:

As I test I added the search form as a shortcode so that the race calendar had the following content:
[ event_search_form ]
[ events_list ]

The form goes to the Events page, which is a 404.

If I have no events page set then the Search form stays on the race calendar page but does not display any results, just the full event list.

I have removed the search form so as not confuse site visitors.

The server is Zeus Web Server on Linux, not IIS.
I would be very very reluctant to change the slug because of SEO.

It doesn’t explain why I get 404 for a new Events page.

Ah, I thought only IIS did this.

I’m thinking that WP is having issues with this (i.e. a WP bug), because we’re using normal WP CPTs now, meaning that we’re not doing any heavy lifting anymore r.e. permalinks.

Maybe changing the events slug may help?

It still gives a 404 error.

If you think it is a WP bug, do you have any suggestions on debugging it? Maybe turning WP_DEBUG on?
Does EM have a hook when a page is set as the Events page?

EM hooks into the_content, so there’s nothing we’re doing that I can think of that’d prevent this happening. I can’t think of what the bug would be though.

Does it work if you disable EM and resave your permalinks? If not, then it can’t be an EM problem for sure.

i also noticed your other issue in your original question, that’s not normal, you need to fix that (your theme), as that should be inside your < head > tags.

The page works correctly when I disable EM and resave permalinks.

For the other issue (I guess you mean “var EM” bit), that is probably unrelated. It is in the ‘head’ area.

If I installed 5.1.1 (the previously installed version and it worked), will there be any issues?
Is the database schema version the same?

yes, should be fine, no recent changes to the db i think.

if you can set me up with a test server with some FTP info and running a copy of your site with this issue (or don’t mind me outputting some wp_query info on your live site somewhere), I’d not mind having a look and see if there’s something we can do.

sorry, I’ve not had time due to some delays caused by pc issues here (happened roughly when I last posted you).
