Hi there. I use an anonymous event submission form on my site. I have a user called Event_Submission who “owns” the events.

I went into the User Capabilities section and it seems you can only allow them to publish events. Am I missing something here? Whoever submits an event, it just automatically goes up on the site without my approval. Is there a way that anonymous event submissions can be entered as drafts automatically?

This also interferes with me telling which events are new and which are old. Since they go up automatically there’s no distinction between one I’ve looked at and one I haven’t. I will be dealing with a huge volume of events so this may get out of hand quickly.

    Thanks for reading!

  • does your user Event_Submission is a subscriber? you should uncheck his publish_events or publish_recurring_events capabilities so that every events created will require admin approval.

I did so, but then my event_form won’t show up. It says “you do not have permission!” when I view it not logged in as admin.

you need to enable at minimum edit_events for subscribers, if you don’t want stuff published, don’t check the publish_… boxes for that role (and probably delete_… too)

    Thanks, that really helped!
