[Plugin: Events Manager] 'Basic Examples' Lacking or Hard to Find!?
-
Hi Marcus,
Great plugin … if only … you gave some simple example values/attributes/arguments/settings for your shortcodes and other functions … well organised (indexed) and easy to find!
E.g. a simple example of arguments to manage the date settings for event listings. Maybe they’re somewhere on your website https://wp-events-plugin.com, but we can’t find them!
In fact, your doumentation is the biggest problem with the plugin.
If you plan on commercilising the plugin, it doesn’t bode well if the basic docmentation is not easy to use to find what you need. I acknowledge there are a lot of settings to configure customise the plugin, but whereas this could be a very positive thing, in this case it’s actually a headache!
Another point, there are lots of references to ‘things’ that have been asked for a ‘will probably’ come in a future release. why not, just have a short list of items currently being worked on, and another list of suggestions which can be added to, but not necessarily committed to.
Of course some things should go into the Pro version so you can make money from them, that’s the reality of life. But I urge you to find a way of properly organising the documentation and not refering people to other developers for customisation, and for things which should work out of the box – like homepage events.
Anthony
