not possible at the moment, however what you can do is to use the city into the address field then use some placeholders in the events format not including the address. e.g. #_LOCATIONTOWN, #_LOCATIONSTATE

Yes, I have been putting the city in the address field and making something up for the Location Name as well. But as you must already know, it makes the Events List look redundant.

It would be nice if they can fix this.

You’d have to add something like N/A in address and then select your state/city as needed.

No plans to add this sort of feature anytime soon. The idea is you can just remove certain info from being displayed with placeholders if your site needs this.
