[Plugin: Event Organiser] events reoccurrence with different dates

  • Hi Stephen,

    thanks for this fulminant plugin.

    Nevertheless i’m missing the possibility to create recurring events on different, non-periodic recurring dates.

    For example a concert which takes place on Monday, Wednesday and 2x on Sunday – in different weeks within a month.

    Isn′t that possible or am i just too stupid to understand the system…? ??

  • Hi Lars,

    This isn’t currently possible (a ‘hack’ would be to create the event so it reoccurs regularly and on each of those dates, and then deleting all but those occurrences).

    In the next version (to be released soon), you will be able to select (or remove) arbitrary dates for events.

    However, the occurrences occur all at the same time. So you couldn’t have an event occurring twice on the Sunday. You will have to create a separate event for this.

    Hi Stephen,

    congrats for your plugin, it is very complete and it has a polished interface.

    I work for a company organizing events.
    For greater front-end flexibility, we are moving from the current backend system to wordpress.
    The new version of our website has to go online in more or less 2 months.

    Like Lars I am missing the multi-date functionality, which in my case is a key feature I cannot do without.

    Do you still plan to include multi-date support in the plug-in?

    Hi Itdge.

    An event can have various recurrence patterns but you can add or remove arbitrary dates too. So events can occur on any dates you wish.

    However, there is still the restriction that an event’s occurrences are on different days. So the same event can’t occur more than once on any given day. This isn’t ideal, but allowing separate times for each occurrence presents a UI issue that I’m yet to resolve. Also the booking add-on I’m creating for this doesn’t (yet) support an event occurring on the same day more than once. There isn’t nothing inherently impossible about it – its just that is presents some interface challenges.

    You can work-around it however. Let’s suppose you have a Pantomime that’s on every Satuday & Sunday 7pm as well as matinée performance on the Satuday. I would create one that recurs on Saturday & Sunday (weekly occurrence with those days selected) and another event that recurs on Saturday for the matinée.
