[Plugin: eShop] "wp-content directory must be writable" (it is – I think) error

  • I get an “ERROR! eShop requires that the wp-content directory is writable before the plugin can be activated.” error when I try to activate eShop after upgrading it to the latest version.

    I set the Permissions to 7-7-7, though (made User, Group and World writable). eShop still won’t activate.

    What’s wrong?

    You get this error after an upgrade?
    can you double check the permissions of wp-content/eshop_downloads & wp-content/uploads/eshop_files

    I still get the error, and yes, I just upgraded to 3.0.1 last week.

    I’ve made wp-content, wp-content/eshop_downloads and wp-content/uploads/eshop_files writable (7-7-7).

    Though I have to admit to never seeing this error before, particularly after an upgrade!

    Still has the error. ?? I am getting SO frustrated with this stupid eShop plugin. I’ve had it for about a year with no problems and now I can’t receive payment from my customers.

    eShop actually uses a native WordPress function for the directories.

    As your directories are already created you could try commenting out lines 11-14 of eshop-install.php

    I’ll add in a pre check so that if the directories have already been created it won’t bring that message up(currently it’s all wrapped in the same function), which should make things easier for you in the future.

    I’ve just changed the upgrade routine to function a little better than it used, so hopefully that error will never occur again if you are upgrading.

    Still got some testing to do on it, but if you need the version before it is released let me know.
    (this will be in the next version 5.7.5)

    I just wanted to let you all know that I had this problem as well even though all permissions were set. However, I realized that wp-content/eshop_downloads did not exist since i didn’t have permissions at 777 for wp-content itself, problem fixed – for me anyway.
