The quick edit has been fixed, sorry about that! Just re-download the plugin once again and replace the epicwin.php file inside the plugin folder. I have tested it and it seems to be working fine now. If you have any more trouble just let me know.

Tbanks for doing that – I agree it seems to have fixed the issue.

HOWEVER! ?? When in Epicwin setup, filtering the number of subscribers displayed (10/20/30), an error is produced when selecting any number:-

    https://rv-and.us/travel/wp-admin/admin.php<form action=?page=epicwin-subscribers&sort=name&sort_order=ASC&record_count=30

I would guess that the “<” after “admin.php” is spurious? This has only happened after your latest fix.

    Thanks,

    Dougie.

I re-loaded the epicwin.php file and it now seems fine – weird! I certainly didn’t attempt to edit the file, so don’t know what happened there. Thanks.

    Hi there,

I have installed the Epicwin Subscribers Plugin 1.3 in a WordPress 3.0.5 System.

Installation and subscriber code was working perfectly fine, but when Publishing a new articel, I get the following Error message:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Swift_TransportException’ with message ‘Expected response code 220 but got code “”, with message “”‘ in /homepages/…/wp-content/plugins/epicwin-subscribers/lib/classes/Swift/Transport/AbstractSmtpTransport.php:406 Stack trace: #0 /homepages/…/wp-content/plugins/epicwin-subscribers/lib/classes/Swift/Transport/AbstractSmtpTransport.php(299): Swift_Transport_AbstractSmtpTransport->_assertResponseCode(”, Array) #1 /homepages/…/wp-content/plugins/epicwin-subscribers/lib/classes/Swift/Transport/AbstractSmtpTransport.php(107): Swift_Transport_AbstractSmtpTransport->_readGreeting() #2 /homepages/…/wp-content/plugins/epicwin-subscribers/lib/classes/Swift/Transport/SendmailTransport.php(61): Swift_Transport_AbstractSmtpTransport->start() #3 /homepages/…/wp-content/plugins/epicwin-subscribers/lib/classes/Swift/Mailer.php(74): Swift_Transport_ in /homepages/…/wp-content/plugins/epicwin-subscribers/lib/classes/Swift/Transport/AbstractSmtpTransport.php on line 406

I would appreciate, if somebody could help me to get rid of this Error.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

    Best regards

Hi Mibert the plugin only works with the sendmail protocol, check with your hosting provider. I will be switching the email system of the plugin from SwiftMailer to PHPMailer, since a lot of people have been having problems like these. I am a little backed up with work right now though, so the new version will take a little time.

    Hi Webaholicson,

thanks for your message and for trying to help me.
In actual fact, my sever is supporting sendmail, so this can not be the reason.

I am using PHP Version 5.2.17 and the sendmail path is defined as /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i

    Any other idea?

Best regards and have a nice day

Here is a post by someone with the same issue:
    https://groups.google.com/group/swiftmailer/browse_thread/thread/27b2b507831b97bb

It seems to be a bug with the recent versions of PHP.

I thought I’d share a recent discovery concerning Swift Mailer 4.0.5
    and PHP 5.2.11.

Apparently feof() returns prematurely in more recent versions of PHP.
This is documented in PHP Bug #49706 and the incorrect behaviour
manifests itself in error mesages such as the one below:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Swift_TransportException’ with
message ‘Expected response code 220 but got code “”, with message “”‘

Downgrading from PHP 5.2.11 to PHP 5.2.8 seems to have solved the
    issue for me.

Hi Webaholicson, thanks for this reply.
I understand the situation but I do not have the possibility to change my PHP version, as I am using a fully managed server by a german big hoster.

Although I am running many scripts on this server, which are using sendmail, none of them is showing such a behaviour.

Anyway, I think I have to wait on further releases of the Epicwin Subscribers Plugin and hope the issue will be settled then.

Best regards and have a nice evening

    Hi there,

in the meantime I have installed Version 1.4 of the Plugin in a WordPress 3.0.5 plattform.

As a result the above described Error message does not show up anymore. The subsription box shows up and works no problem. However, the system is not sending out mails to the subscribers.

Is there any idea, how to fix this issue.

Best regards and thanks in advance

    Hi There,

I just installed WP 3.1 with the Coraline theme. The Coraline theme is a variable width theme. I have a problem with the top of the Epicwin widget overlapping the top horizontal line with it own horizontal line and the gray frames. You can see what I am talking about here:

I would suggest getting rid of the light gray frames and top line and rely on the one produced by the theme template. This way it should look correct in variable width themes.

    Thanks

I figured it on my own. I went into style.css for the widget using the plugin editor and changed the padding in the first line from 10px to 5px and changed the float from left to middle. Looks Gret now!

I would like to have this suggestion added to your future feature list. I would like for you to add a text box in the widget configuration so that I can put custom text above the name entry box. Sample text I would like to add:

“Enter your email address to subscribe to the _____ blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.”

This would help explain to the reader what they were signing up for.

    Thanks,
    Greg

    Milbert/Webaholicson,

Is the reported 1.4 bug confimed (not emailing out new posts)? I won’t upgrade until this is clarified. Thanks.

    Dougie.

    Hello
I installed your plugin a week ago after looking for sometime this exact features.
everything appeared to work fine, the subscription it self work wonderful, but when i publish new post there is no email being sent to notify about the new post.
I’m using WordPress 3.0.5 with Twentyten theme. and i used the Epicwin Plugin function. I must miss something.
    What can be the problem?
    Thank you
    illai

Hi, I just installed epicwin on a fresh WP 3.1.3 site. Looks all good and get no errors, however no mails are sent when a new post is submitted. Are there logs somewhere to see if there are sendmail problems or other issues?

    Thanks, JP
