• I have yet to look into this, but no doubt easySMS somehow is sending unsolicited emails as I got the bounces back.

These bounces were certainly from easySMS as they contained the subject of the last two SMS’s I sent.

These addresses have NEVER been associated with my wp install, nor have they ever been entered through the easySMS form. The only possible way my site could have even seen these addresses is possibly spam through my contact form, but I fail to see the connection.

I’m going to dig into the database now and then once over the plugin code and see what I turn up.

Has anyone else experienced this with this plugin?

  • I just installed this plugin on a client’s site and it seems to be working well. If, however, you are right and this is some sort of “trojan” plugin that is generating spam, I will remove it immediately. Thanks for the warning.

ilabs did this message come in your SMS or to your Email?

I’ve used it and not got sent anything like that…

What are you using for your contact forum?

This only happened two timese. I have not had a chance to look into it. Those are the bounces back to my email that were generated from the script on the server. They contained the original subjects of the SMS message that I sent. Using Contact Form 7.

Sorry I meant to mention it’s possible that one of the addresses that a SMS subscriber receives mail to is then relayed and it was actually those mails that bounced, but again I need some time to look deeper.

I use both & never had that problem… (The easySMS isn’t sending me txt when new post are made I was looking for info on that & found this post) ??

When I was merging my users from xoops to wordpress the ones who used a bogus email bounced like you had mentioned it could be that in general & not the plug-ins

Well actually now that I had a moment to think about it, it cannot be a bogus email, because everyone must confirm their phone number (which converts to email), before receiving the SMS messages.

Since the emails that bounced were not confirmation emails, the email addresses must have been correct and therefore my original assumption that it was possibly an email forward bounce is highly unlikely.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I will look into it more once I have time.. time!! not enough of it ??
