Can you confirm if it is possible that having 30,000 posts and 200,000 tags can cause editing Dynamic Widgets to need more than 200MB of memory?

When I try to edit a widget’s settings in Dynamic Widgets, it begins to load the page and then hangs up for a few seconds after it gets to the Category Pages code and displays the error below, and stopping the rest of the page from loading (including the jquery ui scripts that create the accordion).

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 40 bytes) in /home/********/public_html/wp-includes/cache.php on line 506

I have tried turning off all plugins but this one, and even cleared out the mess of transients that the analytics plugin added and optimized those tables. Total database size is down to a 140MB.

The rest of the site and plugins work fine (afaik). The site is not slow, and else where the memory usage is only 20-40MB. Also updated WordPress to 3.4.1 to see if maybe it was a WordPress bug, but it is still not working.

Please help, I really like your plugin and have it running on several other sites with no problem. I started using this instead of Widget Logic because it makes things so much easier, I don’t want to go back to that for this site, but I may have to.

No, I don’t think the number of posts or tags is the issue here. I suspect the number of categories to be the problem, especially when there is a lot hierarchy involved. Can you confirm that?

Sorry, there are only 42 categories, no sub-categories.

Apologies for the late reply. I’m traveling currently not always having (reliable) internet access.

The number of categories is not that much. Hard to believe that would result into the problem. Do you see the categories? or is that section blank?
