• I have my posts listed in 5 different categories, with the Gallery pulling most recent post form those, but I have to assign a image to every post or use the default and my blog is high volume.

I tried to make a category called “featured” and also list my posts in “featured” as a second category so that the script just pulls the 5 most recent form the “featured” category. I then hid that category form my menu. But the images did not load… any help on making this scenrio work?

The point of this is that I don’t have to tie a featured image to every post, only those I assign to the “featured” category…

  • You would need to use default images to avoid having to assign a custom field image to each post. However, since you’re only using one category (the new Featured category) the same image will appear for every post – which probably isn’t much use to you. :-/

Basically, default images work well when you’re pulling in one post from multiple categories, but when pulling in multiple posts from one category, custom field images are the way to go. I appreciate that this isn’t ideal on a busy blog with perhaps several posts per day. I shall give some thought to this for a future version.
