• Okay, up front I will say this is probably a stupid question, but please try to cut me a break. ?? I need this explained to me like I’m an idiot…I’m not very familiar with how databases work.

So, I’ve successfully installed this plugin on the blog I want to migrate. I’ve created and downloaded the package and installer, uploaded them to the new location and now I think I’m stuck.

On the install page, where I enter the database host, name, username and password…this is where I am confused. Am I entering information that corresponds to the OLD database information, or should I be entering brand new information that will apply to a new database being created on the new site? I began to do the former, then got the warning message after clicking “Install” and panicked, thinking I was going to overwrite the old database (as I need to keep the existing database in the old location on the same server for now).

Does this make sense? Hopefully someone can straighten me out on this. Thanks!

    Anyone?… ??

    Hey webbcity,

Sorry was on vacation. You want to enter in the information for the NEW database. If you click the OLD one it will overwrite the data, but you probably wouldn’t have to panic to much, because it would be the data you just duplicated ??

Anyways Yes enter in the NEW database info. If your not 100% sure then contact your hosting provider and they will give you the exact credentials you need for the new DB.

    Hope this helps!

Hey thanks so much for the response! I ended up going another route (the old-school method) because I was under a time crunch, but this is helpful, thanks…will try it again at some point!

    Hey no problem….

It’s getting more stable with every release! Lots of issues to iron out with so many different server configurations…
