Hi, thanks a lot for this plugin.
I’m moving my site from a server to another one. I uploaded the installer file and the package on my root. When loading my site with my server’s IP address (since I haven’t propagated DNS yet) 123.123.123.12/installer.php a 404 page loads.

Could it be a file permission issue, or should I first create the database? Anything else?

    Thanks for your support!

  • Hey panuma,

Check out the FAQ page and look for this question.

“Everything installed correctly but I keep getting redirected to another URL or 404 errors.”

    Cheers!

Great, I’ll look at it and hope I can fix it.

    Many thanks!

Sounds good, let us know what works if you track it down so others will have something to work off of…

    Thanks

I have the same problem, couldn’t find an answer on FAQ page and didn’t resolve the problem.
That plugin should be easy to use and I spent almost 3 hours trying to make it work…:-p

    Hey Mloisel,

The plugin is actually pretty easy to use, however one difficulty is trying to get a status of a users environment. With millions of configurations it takes time to integrate all those possible configuration back into the plugin. That’s why when people run into issues and then get them resolved we ask them to share the workaround back online…

If your get a 404 on the installer it probably is related to a server setup. You can try this to isolate your issue.

    1. Upload a file called test.html to the same location and see if you can access the file from a browser. If you can’t see that file then either the issue is usually related with a redirect, permission issue, or a .htaccess file setting. If you can see it then something may not be setup correctly with your PHP.

    2. You might also contacting Bluehost support and asking them why the file doesn’t respond, they usually have tools to detect these issues on their servers pretty quickly…

    Hope that helps!

Thanks, I called Blue Host support, they said that they didn’t see nothing wrong on their side, I did the step 1 that you suggested, even my test didn’t work, and strangely, during the time I chated with the tech…I retried the links and they miraculously worked…
So I would love to figure what went wrong but will focus on duplicating my sites with that wonderful tool!

    Hey Mloisel,

Glad you got things going! It may have been a cache issue on the server, sometimes it is hard to tell…

    Cheers!

Well I chatted two times with my hosting provider (hostgator) and after the second time it worked but I don’t know why or how… sorry for not being able to contribute to the solution.

    Hey Panuma,

It was probably a cache issue on the web server. Sometime you just have to keep on some hosts till they actually help you get the issue resolved.

    Cheers!
