    Good morning,
I need urgent assistance with this problem. Basically on the checkout page, when a customer clicks on the Paypal button, the plugin in question does not check the fields to be filled in (unacceptable). Practically he makes the payment proceed even without entering any fields and only after having entered all the paypal or paypal payment data by credit card the user is sent back to the site because some mandatory data are missing, in the meantime, however, the payment is made and blocked on his own PayPal account.
This obviously is the basis of a payment plugin, the plugin should not really open the payment data screen if the required fields are not all filled in.
How can I solve it as quickly as possible? I need an urgent solution because in this way the plugin is unusable.

I look forward to your feedback. Thank you so much!

    Best regards,
    Tommaso

    Hello @mrtrufini1

thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.
We are aware of this situation and have it on our list to get resolved. This change in the succession of activities has been done to (temporarily) avoid the order to fail from other causes. The error you get should indeed be shown at the moment the customer presses the PayPal button, but this validation at that moment was causing orders to fail at that moment. We are working on getting this resolved as soon as we can, but we choose to move the detail validation to a later moment as a “lesser evil” than failing orders.

I have linked this thread to the development ticket, so you should be made aware when this has been corrected.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hello, thanks for the feedback.
I kindly ask you to resolve urgently, because I have already encountered problems with several customers who, having forgotten the required fields, still went to the paypal screen to make the payment, finding themselves with the money committed and blocked for the purchase which unfortunately did not go well end.

    Thanks and good job!

Same problem here. Why is this topic flagged as resolved? Is there a solution in sight?
    Thanks.

Hi @hilch, I think it was fixed a few weeks ago already. I have not run into this problem since then thankfully.

    Hi everyone,

To clarify, the behavior with the checkout validation happening after closing the PayPal popup window was originally introduced in update 1.6.2 to prevent a potential conflict with third-party plugins. In older versions, the checkout validation initially happens right when the user clicks the PayPal button. However, despite successful payment, there was a possibility for the WooCommerce order to fail after the payment under certain circumstances.

Having the checkout validation happen after confirming the payment in PayPal is not ideal UX, but it is a temporary measure and should not cause problems with blocked payments in case the user forgets to fill a field. If the checkout validation fails in the end, then no funds would be captured and any authorizations should automatically be voided.
For the time being, it was a better alternative to having orders fail for no good reason but it won’t stay like this.

If the validation happening before the user logs into PayPal is important to you, the plugin version 1.6.1 is available to download, but we highly encourage always using the latest version to take advantage of the most recent stability improvements.

Fixing this issue requires a bit more work, but it is a high-priority issue for us and it will be addressed in one of the upcoming updates. It will probably not be the update around the end of this month, but there’s a good chance that it will be included in the following one. As mentioned above, we will provide a status update when the
