[Plugin: Dimme calendar] Instructions on using the plugin — Easy to follow
-
So I’m sure there are a bunch of users out there looking for a calendar that their site users can post to.
////////////////////////////
Dimme Calendar is the answer to your prayers! (And mine too! I just found it!)
///////////////////////////
For the basic install all you have to do is:
Download Dimme calendar
Extract to your plugins directory for wordpress
Activate the Plug in
Copy over calendar-tpl.php from your dimme-calendar plugin folder to your template folder.Then go download the plugin named Custom Post Type UI
Don’t get any other similar sounding plugin…this is the one that works
Download the Custom Post Type UI plugin
Extract to your plugins directory
Activate
Go to the Custom Post Type option in your admin panel
Go to Add New
Add a new custom post type (no need for taxonomies) called “agenda”
More specifically:
Post Type Name: agenda
Label: (Anything you want…I chose Events)
Singular Label: (Anything you want…I chose Events)
Description: (Anything you want)Now click “Create custom post type”
A new admin option should come up under Comments named “Events”
Create a post in the Events option panel.
Publish it.Make a new Page called Dimme Calendar or whatever you want
Set the template to “dimme calendar archive”Save and go check out your blog!
You should have a page called Dimme Calendar which has a calendar that only lists the event that you created in your Custom Post Type called events.
———That’s it!To make it so that user’s can submit events, go check out the TDO Mini Forms plugin. There are plenty of tutorials on how to allow users to post from the front-end of your blog. While I haven’t completely fleshed this out, if you get them to post using the custom post type…you should get a nice user-made calendar!
———–
Any hints on how to setup the custom posts using TDO Mini Forms would be nice if someone wants to write it up here.
