I have used and enjoyed your plugin for over two years and i will always recommend it because it’s really wonderful.

But recently i audited my installed plugins because they are too many. I needed to remove the ones i no longer need to increase the speed of page load of my site

Nav Menu Role was one of the plugins i deactivated and deleted because the menu i was using it to hide from non login users was no longer necessary on my site since i can always reinstalled when ever i need it.

But i noticed that all the functionalities of the plugin are still active in my menu settings in admin.

It’s over 3 days now since i removed the plugin and i have clear cache several times even though it wasn’t necessary yet the functionalities of Nav Menu Role plugin are still visible in my menu settings in admin. When i use it to hide a menu it still work fine and hide the menu in front-end as if nothing has changed.

    This is quite weird!

    Please advise.

I don’t really have any advice here. If you have fully removed the plugin then it can’t run. So if it’s still running then I can only guess that the code is still active.. either as a plugin or weirdly loaded in another plugin/theme. It’s somewhere and you’ll need to find it. Maybe your host can help.

If the code is still active like you said, then how do i locate it and manually remove it entirely from my site because that is the reason for deactivating and deleting the plugin in the first place to remove unnecessary codes i no longer need from my site.

Sorry, but I don’t know. This is outside the usual behavior of WordPress itself and so outside my limited knowledge. I would use FTP access to be sure the plugin folder is fully deleted. And browse around to be sure it’s not hidden somewhere it’s not meant to be. Are you using any other plugins/themes that might be adding fields to the menu items?

Does the plugin still appear at wp-admin/plugins.php? Do you have OP cache? Cah you clear that?

Thanks for your response so far. The plugin no longer appear at wp-admin/plugins.php i have also checked the plugin folders in wp content in my c-panel and it’s not also there.

Please can you explain what you mean by OP cache please explain further so i can dig deep into that area.

The funniest thing is that i am not having this issue with the other plugins i deleted from my site. The whole thing is really weird as this is contrary to how WordPress works.

OP Cache was just something some colleagues suggested when I asked their advice. I hadn’t heard of it before now, but assume it is a type of caching. This is indeed quite weird which is why I don’t really have much to offer you. I still think you should contact your hosting company. Something sure seems to be stuck in a cache somewhere.

Just thought of another place it could be…. do you have a wp-content/mu-plugins folder? Plugins in there would not show up in the plugins.php table.

My plugin loads a nav-menu-roles.js (or nav-menu-roles.min.js) script on the menus page. If you view the page source you might be able to determine that file’s source location.

OK, thanks for getting back to me, i will do a workaround based on your advice.

I will revert when i am true.

Thank you very much for your concern.

    Wowwwwww! issue resolved!

This is the most surprising thing i have seen lately in WordPress.

After spending days searching through my files with FTP to know where your plugin file is hiding, i never new the User Role Plugin i installed on my site to manage my users capabilities also has another functionality of hiding menu like Nav Menu Role plugin.

And they work exactly the same way which made the whole thing so confusing.

I was able to figured things out by viewing the page source of my menu page in admin based on your advise.

    Thank you very much helgatheviking,

You are so intelligent and always willing to help.

I’m gonna give your plugin 5 star straightaway.

    Cheers!
