  • Hi Marquex,
    Really great plugin! Nice work…
I am sure someone already asked, but is there a reason that you label the “replacement” sidebars “sidebar-1, sidebar-2, etc…”?
Since my site has 11 active sidebars, it would be ideal to have the names of the sidebars (visible in your admin UI) match those displayed in the “edit page/post” areas…
This capability would make this plugin perfect! I would donate to have the work done…
    Please advise,
    Hugh

thx for your great plugin, works fine with my custom theme ??

is there a reason, the custom sidebar doesn’t show up in your other plugin ‘custom widgets’? I use both and it would be great if they worked together!
I already noticed the comment that custom sidebars don’t show up in in custom post types. is there a possibility to make them work in custom post types – e.g. by adding some code to the functions.php?
that would be just about perfect! ??
thx again and have a sunny weekend!

Have you ever seen anyone integrate this plugin to work with the wp e-commerce plugin? It would be great to customize sidebars for products or product categories.

    Marquex–

    Awesome plugin!
Time is non-renewable. You saved me a ton of it.

I need to spend my time writing/publishing/marketing/consulting
and the rest of it. Although I could learn it…the last thing I want to do is
    spend time hacking code.

I am also wondering if we could work on a solution for custom post types. I am trying to get it to work by adding some code into functions.php but it doesn’t seem like an easy fix….

    Any ideas Javier?

    Hi there,
Weird problem I have not come across before.
I create custom sidebars, set the to replace the primary widget area, select the custom sidebar from the drop-down when editing a page (all good so far) but when I go to update the page – the sidebar selection vanishes & I’m left with the default sidebar.
I’ve used custom sidebars previously – so I’m not a total newbie, & I’ve set up the same, so I’m at a bit of a loss.
    Any ideas?
    Jas

    Hi Marquex,
I still have this issue – any chance you could give me some advice around this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jas

HI, I love this plugin and as a matter of fact finding it made me not want to build my own. But I have one question: When I associate a sidebar with a page, I would like by default to have the children pages to also inherit that sidebar. I’m working on a site with many pages. Is there a quick way to do this? Or will I have to connect each page manually?

    Thanks for all your work.

    Cameron

    ps: (soon to donate…)

    : )

I have installed Custom Sidebars and it does exactly what I want it to do. . . but now I wonder if it is giving me a problem.

I use Weaver and documentation is that I should be able to use several menus. However, my page menus at the top of the page do not show their submenus when I hover over them. I’m not sure this is an issue with the Sidebar. . . just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem.

My custom sidebar doesn’t show up om my blog page, using Thematic. It works fine on “static” pages. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to change my sidebar from page to page? I have a six page website but I want to use a different sidebar on a couple of the pages. I see the different sidebar options in the widget area, I just don’t know how to assign them to particular pages.

    Thank you for any assistance.

I just updated to the latest version of Word Press, version 3.2, and now the Custom Sidebar plug-in doesn’t seem to be functioning correctly. All of my custom side bars that I created still exist and appear on the Widgets page however, when I go to a specific page and/or post there is no way to associate the custom side bar with this page or post. That functionality does not appear as an option. Anyone else having an issue with this?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I also just updated the 3.2 today and the plugin stopped working. Then received the update to the plugin (Version 0.8.1)–things worked again for a while. Then suddenly I got the white screen of death on every page but could still see admin pages. Initiated debug, deactivated plugin, reactivated it and found these errors:
Undefined variable: sb in customsidebars.php on line 97
Undefined index: cs-solutions in customsidebars.php on line 98

    Thanks,
    Greg

    Having the same issue Mike:

Any Help would be amazing here….

Thanks for this great plugin! Unfortunately, I created a duplicate site (for testing) and can’t get the plugin to work on the duplicate site (works fine on original site though at https://www.method-marketing.com)…

    • Custom sidebars won’t appear on pages in the duplicate site located at https://dev.method-marketing.com…pages show either the default sidebar or no sidebar at all…even though a custom sidebar is selected for that page
    • I deactivated all other plugins (to ensure it wasn’t plugin conflict)

I’m stumped! Can you take a look? We’d greatly appreciate it if you (or anyone else) can provide input on what might be causing the problem…
