• Can CSV Importer be set to overwrite old posts with the same name ?

What I want to do is export all my posts and pages, (using Export to Text) then do some adjustments, and then import them all back again, with CSV Importer, but overwriting the originals.

I do not want to duplicate posts.

  • ABCDiamond: No, CSV Importer never touches existing posts.

    OK, thanks.

I will share my first reaction to this… and ask if it is sensible…

If I export all posts, then do my changes, then Delete all the original posts, followed by immediately re-importing the changed ones, would I be asking for trouble ? I have over 2,000 posts, and I would NEED the posts to have the same original page URL’s.

ABCDiamond: Deleting and re-importing shouldn’t pose problems. You won’t get the original URLs if the deleted posts are kept in the trash; if you delete the posts permanently, you should get the original URLs.

Try importing 3 posts, delete, re-import and see how that works first.

I have used this plugin to upload product. Now i need to add additional taxonomies and custom fields to those products… can this plugin be used in that way? or will I end up with duplicate products?
