When we updated WordPress to 3.8 everything seemed fine, but then when we updated the Sattelite Slideshow plugin, it crashed the entire site. So we had our server guy deactivate the plugin manually, which allowed us to get back into the site, but everytime we try to reactivate it, we can this error:
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /mnt/dantuna/www.pixelscollide.com/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/slideshow-satellite/slideshow-satellite-plugin.php on line 836″

Our entire portfolio and all blog posts include these slideshows, it would be a nightmare to have to completely reinstall it, or switch to a different plugin. Are you able to help with this??

I thought this error was fixed with 2.2.1, can you verify you have the latest version?

Yes, I am running 2.2.1 (or at least, trying to). It was when I updated to 2.2.1 that it happened.

I did look through the forums and saw that similar issues were being discussed, but it looks like this is still happening. ??

Any suggestions? We are dead in the water over here. Our sites entire portfolio was built in Satellite and since satellite doesn’t use the WP Media gallery, we’ll have to start from scratch if we switch to a different plug. Plus we really liked Satellite ??

On the developers section you can download older versions of Satellite:

I’d try and download and install an older version as that will be the quickest way to start showing your slideshow again.

This will give us some time to figure out how to fix this. It would be great if there was a testing environment that you could setup for me with wp-admin priviledges so I can really get to the bottom of it for a 2.2.2 release ??

Let me see if I can get a testing environment set up for you. In the meantime, how to I download an older version??

Sorry, I read your post too fast and didn’t even realize you told me where to get it. Downloading now.

OK. We are back up and running with 2.0.2 – Thank you!! I will see if my server guy can set us up with a dev area so that you can debug it.

Sorry, I posted this answer in another thread, but I think it will help best if posted here:
Version 2.2.1 still does not fix the “parse error” problem with PHP 5.3+
The problem is located at line 74 of file slideshow-satellite-plugin.php
    Please replace:
    </style> <?
    with
    </style> <?php
and everything is back to normal.
