[Plugin: Contact Form 7] mandatory number of characters in a field?

    I’ve been looking in faq and other posts in this forum but not founded an answer. Is it possible to have a mandatory number of characters in a text field, using this plugin?

    I need to make the submit button disappear (and have an error message) if user don’t fill all the character needed in that field (i.e.: like cc number, we know it’s always 12 digits, why allow to send a form with 11 digits?)

  • Sorry, no. That is more processing than this very simple form does.

    As a patch, someone could write Javascript to do a quick check on number of characters, and yes, this does require at least some programming ability.

    I guess Contact Form 7 is reaching a critical mass of popularity now. The requests get wilder every day. I see requests for advanced validation, vanishing fields, Ajax, multiple pages, WYSIWYG, dog polisher. All the stuff that you can usually only find in a dedicated form script, and I suppose that the newbie has no way of knowing that. Form programming is pretty nasty – that’s why I appreciate this nice, simple app.

    There are plugins to Contact Form 7, though, who knows maybe one of those does this.
