Plugin Conflicts and Possible Solutions?— NOT eactly a Bug
-
Hi,
I discovered a solution to some plugins conflicting or not working when some settings of WP Hide & Security Enhancer are active. Am keeping the particular plugin’s name out since it’s more of a paid for or ‘Premiun’ Plugin.
One of my plugins ( a front end page builder) was not loading on the front end and stuck in an infinite load. I narrowed it down to WP Hide & Security Enhancer after trial and error deactivating and activating plugins. Finally, after deactivating WP Hide & Security Enhancer the page builder loaded and worked well.
I then proceeded to hunt down exactly which setting caused the conflict since its logical not all the settings of WP Hide & Security Enhancer conflicted with the page builder. After undoing all settings to defaults and enabling them one by one [including the rewrites too ] I found not one but three culprits. Below the paths of the three (3) settings;
1 Rewrite > XML-RPC > Remove ping Back // I switched to NO //
2 General / HTML > Remove profile link // also switched to NO //
3 General / HTML > Meta > Remove canonical link // also Switched to NOI selected ‘No’ for them and saved to disable them. After disabling them, the page builder plugin finally worked. I was able to create and edit pages.
After I was done, I enabled them [ switched to YES ]. I re-enabled them because my case is special, I don’t need the page builder front end to be always active but only active during page creation and edits.If you narrow plugin bugs and conflicts to WP Hide & Security Enhancer these three settings are a great place to start but not necessarily the only places to look.
As the tittle says, it’s not exactly a bug. I don’t expect the WP Hide & Security Enhancer to be compatible with all wordpress plugins, custom code and custom functions. So did a work around to resolve my case.
And oh, even with these settings disabled I tried detecting wordpress on
— wpthemedetector[dot]com,
— isitwp[dot]com and
— whatwpthemeisthat[dot]comyet they all could not and failed to detect wordpress. I don’t know how that will work for you. Test on all popular wordpress sniffing sites and software; just in case you may need some settings disabled for the long term.
Best Regards,
Ike.
