    Hi,

It seems that UsersWP plugin is preventing the functions.php accessed in the WordPress theme file editor from updating. I was trying to add new functions and kept getting this error message – “Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.”

I deactivated all plugins and reactivated one at a time, while checking to see if the functions.php worked, and it was fine until I reactivated the UsersWP plugin and then got the error message again. Any ideas how to fix it?

    Thanks

    Hello,

sorry for the trouble you are seeing there!

Are you using code snippet plugin? It might be possible that you have added a function in code snippet and in functions.php both and it might be throwing error because functions should have unique name.

I do have the code snippet plugin installed but it’s not activated as haven’t needed to use it yet. It’s not a great problem, I have been adding functions this afternoon, just had to deactivate UsersWp each time beforehand and then remember to reactivate it after.
