Plugin code showing in blog excerpt

I have created one blog post using the breadcrumb module but now on the blog overview page the excerpt is displaying the plugin code for the breadcrumb. If I delete the breadcrumb from the blog post or just move it down a row the correct excerpt returns.
Any thoughts?
