[Plugin: Co-Authors Plus] Removes ability to change author in bulk

    Hello, I’ve been using the co-authors plus plugin for a week or two and liking it a lot (although it could use an interface element that tells people how the main author is changed, doesn’t look like it can be).

    However, I just noticed that it removes the ability to change the main author in the bulk edit options. This is a necessary feature for us. Is its removal intentional?

    (We use the coauthors plugin for a different content type than we need to use the bulk edit for, if that makes any difference.)

    Yep, this in intentional. If you only need Co-Authors Plus for a specific post type, you only enable it for that post type if you’d like.

    Since I have your attention now, I’d like to mention that users with custom roles were also not showing up as options, even though they had all the right user levels and capabilities set. This may be a bug with the WordPress function you were using to set what users were qualified, but still I had to go manually edit your plugin to fix it. It would be nice if you would take a look at that issue. (Maybe 3.3 will fix it, haven’t looked at it yet).

    Yes, we’re aware of it and thinking through the best solution. Here’s a similar thread. The problem is that when we restrict user search to “authors” with “who” => “authors”, the function doesn’t account for custom roles who can author posts.

    Ideally, you shouldn’t modify the plugin because your changes will be blown away on upgrade. Instead, it’d be great to work out a patch for this ticket that takes a capability-based approach to filtering user search.
