• My understanding is that a plugin is supposed to extend the features and functionality of WordPress. This plugin seems only to provide a way of accessing the ClickDesk website to complete the registration and setup forms.

It doesn’t actually do anything – I deactivated the plugin and the chat feature still works. The crucial bit which is adding the Javascript snippet to your site is buried in one of the (many) emails you receive on signup. And unless I’ve missed it there’s no WordPress-specific instructions on how where to add this code.

    Hello Andy,

Sorry for the confusion created with the emails.

As a wordpress plugin user, you need not manually paste the code in your pages or widget. The plugin certainly extends the functionality by inserting the code snippet directly to your wordpress site when the ‘install plugin’ link is clicked while configuring the live chat. No copy/paste stuff.

Unless you paste the live chat code snippet manually in the widgets, deactivating the plugin shall certainly remove live chat on the site.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for your reply.

When I clicked the ‘install plugin’ button I had a message to say that it been installed successfully, but ClickDesk didn’t appear on my site and no code was inserted. I only got it working by manually adding the code to my website footer.

Andy, thanks for letting us know this. This could be due to the theme you are using or might have caused by some 3rd party plugin that’s active. The install plugin link in our dashboard inserts the code snippet directly on the site unless it conflicts with the theme structure or another active plugin on your wordpress site.

    Thanks,

    Yes you’re probably right.
