Plugin clash with WooCommerce

When we have ESI plugin active, it stops WooCommerce from using some of the FontAwesome icons that are built into the Woo UI. For example, when you are on the checkout there’s a bar asking you if you have a coupon, with an exclamation mark icon. When ESI is active, the icon is not loaded; when I deactivate it, it loads fine.
Strangely, not all Woo icons are affected.
There is nothing in the browser console that’s different in the two situations.
Woo is using:
font-family: “Font Awesome 5 Free”;
I have verified this issue on other sites where we use Woo and Easy Social Icons.
