• HI,

I have created a new role, added a test user and assigned them this role and changed the capabilities of the role to only Read and Read Private Pages.

When I log in as this test user I cannot see the private pages link in the menu. Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much?

I am using the Thesis theme.

    Thank you

It just occurred to me that the capabilities of roles apply to the admin area and not the front end. Is this correct?

    Thank you.

the capability read_private_pages only applies to pages, not to posts. For posts you have to use read_private_posts.

This said, I’m not sure how this capabilities work. The name is so explicit… could it be that the WordPress functions that creates the link menu wont’ show the private pages?

Have you tried to access this page with the page permalink?

Yes I am trying to hide certain pages from certain members of my site.

I have managed to work around this with another plugin using yours to create new roles and for different admin capabilities.

    Thanks for your help.

Can I ask what other pluging you used along with capabilitiy manger to achieve this?

I’m having the same problem right now. When I define a page as Private, I can’t even see it as administrator. I can see it if I deactivate the plugin, though. Any ideas?
