Well thanks for creating this video tutorial. Just have a couple favors to ask.

Would you mind recreating the video tutorial and showing doing Backup first and then showing clicking the AutoMagic buttons next and then continue on with the rest of the video.

The thing i am worried about is that people will not create backups as the very first step and then also forget to use the AutoMagic buttons to create their Master .htaccess files before Activating them.

Ideally people who are doing a first time installation and people who are upgrading should do a backup of their old .htaccess files in case something goes wrong. Then if everything is good they would do another backup of the activated BPS .htaccess files.

    Thank you,
    Ed

Updated post (since I can’t delete the prior one).

I love Bulletproof Security and “require” my clients install BPS plugin to improve their blog’s security.

Watch this video to see how to install bulletproof security:

They are somewhat in the right sequence, but your site will crash if you happen to have a subfolder site.

    The correct procedure is:

    1. backup your existing .htaccess files FIRST using the BPS built-in Backup and Restore.
    2. Create both your default.htaccess and secure.htaccess Master .htaccess files by clicking BOTH of the AutoMagic buttons.
    3. Activate all BulletProof Modes.
    4. Check your website. If everything is ok then perform another Backup of your new BPS .htaccess files.

    @tvcnet
I really appreciate that you made the effort, but i do not want to hear people complaining that their websites are down. That would upset me just as much as it would upset them. Thanks.

You are now ONLY showing that you are creating the default.htaccess file with AutoMagic. The most important file to create with AutoMagic is the secure.htaccess file.

Once again thank you for your efforts, but please do not make another attempt to post another video. This will only further confuse people. Thank you.

I have since updated the video. Hopefully it now meets your requirements BPS folks:

    Ok yep that looks good.
I want to point this very important point out though.
If you update your custom permalink structure after activating BulletProof Modes you will need to re-activate BulletProof Modes again. Ideally you should create your custom permalink structure first.
The way BPS .46.5 is designed and all future versions of BPS and BPS Pro is that updating your custom permalink structure will remove all of the BPS .htaccess security code. This is designed as a quick way to remove BPS .htaccess security code and return to a default WP .htaccess file. This will be developed further in future version releases of BPS and BPS Pro.

Thanks for creating the video tutorial.
