[Plugin: BuddyPress] Making Users All Spammers!!!

  • Hello,

    Have one questions my site is making majority of the users who sign up Spammers. How can I fix this where I dont have to login view their profile and mark as not spammer. Is there a way to make it so it doesnt mark people who sign up as spammers so everyone is ok.

  • That could not have been caused by BuddyPress out of the box. Looks more like it’s caused by a WP or a BP add-on plugin. What BP version are you using? What BP/WP plugins are activated in your installation?

    I like not having any spammers but its ridiculous when people sign up and if I cant activate their account immediately they have to wait till I tell Buddypress that they are not a spammer.

    Hopefully you can help me out with this strange issue.

    That is strange indeed. Neither of plugins above would trigger that at all. Just to clarify, what do you mean by “BuddyPress marks new registration as spammers”? What,when,where does that show to even indicate it’s related to BP?

    Also, if you have WP 3.0 in multisite, go to Super Admin > Options > Allow new registrations – check that it’s not disabled.

    I think I may know the issue, would this cause it once the user registers maybe they are not activating their account immediately so it shows them as spammers until they activate their account by clicking on the link in the email?

    Does this make sense?

    Dont got WordPress 3 in MultiSite, but just wondering if the comment above that I posted if they havent activated their account yet if that would make them spammers until they activate their account thats only thing I can think of.

    I’m having a similar problem except it’s only marked on of my users as a spammer.

    How do I un-mark them as a spammer? This is WordPress 3.0 regular (Not MU)

    Any ideas?

    Looks like you were right mbond, They didn’t activate their account you can manually activate peoples account using WP Activate Users WordPress Plugin.
