[Plugin: BuddyPress Activity Plus] aesthetic suggestions

  • What a great find! This really gets Buddypress close to a full-on FB experience!

    I have a couple of comments re.t he appearance of this plug-in:

    1.
    The icons for inserting media are a) too large and b) very clipart looking. I think repurposing the “Upload/Insert” icons we see when working with WordPress posts would look cool.

    2.
    The “+” icon is useless, other than as a placeholder for when that changes to “X” – seems to me that it would me intuitive to remove it altogether and, instead, add a “Cancel” button that only appears after having clicked the Photo, Video or Link button.

    3.
    It’d be great to have an administrative option to restrict the size of a posted image as it appears in the activity stream. Presently, uploaded pictures and videos appear fullsize and the thumbnails that get added to hyperlinks are much too large.

    Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! The icons themselves can be changed in the plugin folder but are actually simpler to change with CSS. It’s all essentially skinnable using CSS.

    We’ll pass on your other ideas to the developers for consideration.

    Chris, get some icons from glyphish, facebook and other huge sites use them. there’s 200 free, but I paid $25 for the pro:

    Set the css to 28px width and height, and center the icons like: #bpfb_addPhotos {
    background: url(../img/system/121-landscape.png) 50% 50% no-repeat;
    }

    Agreed there needs to be admin section to restrict upload sizes, types etc. But great start, am liking it.

    Does any one know how to make the box edges rounded?
