I am using the brute-force option to restrict IPs that can access login page, however I have now found that this also breaks passworded pages. Passworded pages invoke the wp-login page somehow, so it no longer works. It has something to do with the .htaccess covering all my sites, and it breaks them all.

I saw a previous thread that stated this was fixed in an update, but I have all sites absolutely up-to-date for both WP and plugins.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

You can’t use the cookie based brute force prevention feature if you are using password protected page. Its one of those features where you can’t have both unfortunately.

Use the login page rename feature as an alternative.

Hi, I forgot that Peter added a feature to make that option compatible actually.

Do you have the “My Site Has Posts Or Pages Which Are Password Protected:” flag set in the cokie based feature settings? Please set that option and then you should be good.
