I installed BP-FBConnect on the latest version of Buddypress and WPMU and then followed the directions and entered the API Key and secret key and everything appears to be good. When I try to login with the FB Connect button I get an error page on Facebook that says that my application is “is under construction. Please try again later.” What more do I need to do to make the “application” functional? Just to be clear, I’m not building an application, I just want BP-FBConnect to work.

    bumping this one

You have to make sure your application is set up fully in Facebook.

One of the main culprits is if you didn’t fill in your “connect URL”.

Go to your Facebook App Panel, go to the “Connect” tab and make sure your site’s URL is in the top-most box under “Facebook Connect Settings > connect URL”.

    That should solve your problem.

    thanks, bradthomas! that’s that problem.

And for those who wonder what to put there, it should be your site’s URL.

have done the same but I dont get the connect button… do I need to add any code to the default theme of buddypress?

same here, made sure connect url is in place, but no connect button on login or signup

I think the existing version of Facebook Connect designed by the BuddyPress folks has not been updated, while the current Buddypress v.1.2.2.1 has undergone substantial changes, from what I understand. I figured the plugin page at Buddypress lists the latest updates, in order of their release. Heres the page: https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/ The top one is the one that has been released/upgraded last. Sadly Facebook Connect is not there yet, and I suspect the owner is working on it.

There are alternatives like xpr, but most of them are more trouble to install than anything else. I’d wait if I were you, which is what I am doing.
