• I’m wondering if there are plans to allow a duplicate a site on registration. I’m going to setup a free services and am wanting some pages and forms already in their site.

Are their plans to do this type of thing?

I’m thinking the super-admin would create a template site called Template. Then, there would be a dropdown in the settings of this plugin saying “Select the site you want to duplicate when users sign up”.

    Just a thought.

  • Following along as I have the exact same need.

Interesting idea… When I sign up on a site I can see a case where I’d want to select from a list of template blogs. Maybe it needs a network admin UI to list all the blogs and let the superuser select which ones should be templates. When someone signs up, if there is only one template then copy it, if there are many then select one and copy it.

    Does that sound right?

What would the selection UI look like? A drop menu? Bunch of thumbnails?

For my needs it just needs to be as simple as possible. The Network Admin would setup a simple site, when the pages he/she wants with the content he/she wants. Then the user would sign up and it would pull all of the posts/pages/content from the “template” site.

I would think that most people though would love to select via thumbnail would be best.

I am creating a site for youngsters and I think for this ides to catch on the site has to look like ‘something’ already.
I would love to have a feature where a setup that I have created would be that ‘something’.
For starters I don’t need any choices to be presented to my users, although I absolutely vote for this feature as well ??

I notice that the developer, Modern Tribe, has not responded to this question. Is it certain that you cannot set Blog Copier to duplicate a site automatically upon user sign-up? The original plugin (WP Replicator) from which this was forked allows you to select a default blog that will be copied automatically for new users.

    Thanks,

    David

Oops – I see now that the developer did reply.

@david – I would encourage you to use the WP Replicator if it addresses this. I thought the default in that plugin wasn’t for auto signup but I could be wrong.

@all – honestly, we’re pretty busy and until a client pays us to add that functionality we won’t likely be adding it. But if someone in the community wants to offer up a solution, perhaps we can bake it in to the plugin.

I like this idea you presented. I would like to go a step further and see about charging to clone a blog(s) that is/are set as a template(s)

I would also like to set up tokens/shortcodes that will be replaced with the new signups data that is asked for during signup.

Contact me on the side to discuss details on potential costs and turn around times for this.

On a side note. Another person here asked if your new version carried over the feature that was part of the original plugin of setting a blog as a template for new users that signup?

Was that carried over? This was important for me and how I found the original version and then stumbled across your port or rewrite. I hope you rewrote that feature in. I cant really see why you would have removed it?

I have been testing some similar plugins to have a blog copied upon user signup and depending on the value of a custom sign up field pick the blog to duplicate.

    Any news on this?

Why I would like to use this plugin is because of it’s very lightweight and have a low impact as far as I can tell.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I also looking for a plugin to duplicate a site at the time of registration. WP Multisite Replicator does, why not Blog Copier?

    Thanks.

    same need ?? !!
