• i did not find the configuration of bib3html actually self-explanatory. so maybe i can mitigate someone else’s pain when trying to add a PDF to a publication.

    actually, all you have to do is to include the url to the appropriate pdf within the bibtex entry’s url field. E.g. url={https://johannesluderschmidt.de/doc/paper/ViNet%20Interaction%20with%20Information%20Visualizations.pdf} will cause a little image appear next to your publication with the appropriate link if your bib3html template “bibentry-html.tpl” is configured accordingly.

    your template has to include {pdf} somewhere (which it does by default).

    if you (like me) do not like the somewhat ugly link image, you could replace img/external.png with an image of a pdf icon. however, then each url in bibtex would be shown as a pdf icon. but if you (like me) are not using the url field of bibtex for something else than links to pdf files you can do so without hesitating.
