[Plugin: Better WP Security] Installed WP Security-Site Has Crashed

  • I loaded WP Security to my site this afternoon. I started going through the findings and checking things. Not halfway through with the checklist, my site began to not load pages. Now I cannot log in to the back end. The front end error message is, “Internal Server Error

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    I tried to rename the theme folder to no avail.
    I then deleted the amended WP Security .htaccess file and replaced it with my original .htaccess file. Still no website.

    I have no idea what to do next to restore my website and correct this issue.

    Can you please help ASAP?

  • Do you have the error logs? Do you know exactly which feature caused the issue?

    As I remember it, I was almost halfway through the checklist when the site locked up. There was so much to do to unhook from what this plugin caused that I don’t remember the specific issue any longer. Having disclaimers of potential harm does not absolve the author and the inability to get a clear route to support is frustrating. Those disclaimers probably should stand as a warning that the plugin may not be solid-ready. Regrettably, I don’t have the error log for this. I wish I did.
