  • I think the author’s website is called “better wordpress” and so the plugin is thus called “better wordpress” minify – so it’s not really a better version of the minify plugin, it’s just his version…

I think I’ve described all the advantages of using this plugin here: https://betterwp.net/wordpress-plugins/bwp-minify/, under Plugin Feature section. The ‘better’ thing in this plugin is that it makes use of the enqueueing system, which is considered the standard way to print your scripts.

The name might confuse some of you that BWP Minify is an upgraded version of WP Minify, while it is not :).

Well, I tried the Better version and is does not seem to work. With just the css minify option enabled, original .css files are still posted. Unlike “WP Minify” which does work, buy replacing all .css files with a single merged .css.

I don’t know how “WP Minify” performs its minify. If Better WP Minify uses other technology, are there additional config steps needed, in addition to the enable css minify option? Am using default BWM options and have verified cache perms are 755.

Ok, I see it partially working now. But the theme .css remains untouched so I will need to see how to enqueue it.

I just remember using both plugins and the original one seemed to have a more intuitive admin interface and seemed to be less buggy. Perhaps some part of the code of the BWP version do things better (enqueuing scripts) but overall I find the original more stable and less confusing to use.
