    Does this plugin change the database structure and add its own tables to WordPress? I am looking at the online course/interactive video components. If so is there an online alternative to this plugin available for subscription?

    Yes, it needs to add its own table to store the interactive content.

    You can test the content type features for free on h5p.org. There is also a subscription service on h5p.com.
