  • Hi KaiSD,

This problem came up once before, but neither I nor the original reporter were able to reproduce it.

Can you provide more details on your setup? There may be a conflict with another plugin.

    Hello!

    Thanks for the answer.

I have WordPress 3.2.1 (not upgraded yet)

    Active plugins:
Akismet, Avatars, bbPress, bbPress Post Toolbar, bbPress Quotes, Front Page Category, NextGEN Gallery, PuSHPress, Simple:Press (i’m trying the bbPress in order to replace it, but right now there are 2 forum plugins), xLanguage.

I’ll try to turn them off one by one.

Deactivated all of them (just deactivated) – still the same problem.

I’ll try to reproduce it with clean setup.

    No problems with clean setup.

I was unable to reproduce it with clean setup…
I’ve installed all the plugins, and still no problems.

I’ll try to reinstall some plugins on and see if it will help to solve the existing problem.

I’ve reinstalled the WP (3.3), installed all the plugins i need, checked that the topic editing is working, and restored the database backup. After restoring the database, the topic editing got broken again.
Seems like the problem is somewhere in the database. But i have no idea where to look.

The cause of this is somewhere inside the wp_usermeta table.

Here are all the facts i found:

It’s a problem with user metadata.

There are no problems with post adding and editing for new users.

    It’s one of these keys::

    managenav-menuscolumnshidden
    metaboxhidden_nav-menus
    closedpostboxes_nav-menus
    nav_menu_recently_edited
    closedpostboxes_post
    metaboxhidden_post
    meta-box-order_nav-menus
    closedpostboxes_dashboard
    metaboxhidden_dashboard
    closedpostboxes_page
    metaboxhidden_page
    meta-box-order_post

I don’t know which exactly, i deleted them all, and the problem dissapeared.

    Thread Starter KaiSD

    (@kaisd)

    It’s meta-box-order_post

Wow! Thank you so much for researching this so thoroughly!

Can you provide a sample of the meta_value that triggered the problem? I’ve tried moving the Discussion meta box around, and even mangled the meta_value manually, but still can’t reproduce this behavior.

    Hi!

    It was:

    (13602, 1, ‘meta-box-order_post’, ‘a:3:{s:4:”side”;s:78:”commentstatusdiv,submitdiv,formatdiv,categorydiv,tagsdiv-post_tag,postimagediv”;s:6:”normal”;s:79:”postexcerpt,trackbacksdiv,postcustom,slugdiv,authordiv,commentsdiv,revisionsdiv”;s:8:”advanced”;s:11:”sfforumlink”;}’)

Awesome! It looks like the forum info is overriding the current post when the discussion box is loaded before the editing fields. I’m working on it now, and hope to have a fix out shortly!

In the mean time, you can restore access by dragging the discussion box below the title and body fields, then going back to the All Posts screen and back in to the post.

This is should be resolved in the most recent release. Can you please verify with your install?

I have the same problem like this video, also I had migrated to new server, but I don’t know if that is the proble because I don’t see meta-box-order_post in my database

    Hi robotcake –

I think that problem relates to bbPress and BuddyPress, not this plugin. It’s definitely not the same as the one KaiSD reported, and that was fixed nearly a year ago.

Please create a new support topic here if you run into this with forum topics attached to posts (not groups). I’d be happy to work on it with you there. ??
