[Plugin: BackWPup] Won't Email 'File Backup'

I’ve split my backup into two parts, and want each backup to be emailed to me. The first job is a database only backup. I ran it, it was emailed to me… everything went as expected.
The second backup is a ‘files only’ backup. I ran it and this message was returned…
[ERROR] Error "Could not instantiate mail function." on sending mail!Why might it not send this email when it sends the other?
