    Hi,

I recently enquired with Heart Internet regarding their support from cron jobs (specifically ones that would cause the automatic backup to cease). There response was as follows…

The cron facility is supported by us, however the part that isn’t supported is loopback connections. It is possible to bypass this for some scripts, by using the full server path (ie ‘https://www.yourdomain.com/script.php’, becomes ‘/home/sites/yourdomain.com/public_html/script.php’) as this will bypass the loopback rule. Some scripts will not work this way though, so you will need to check and see if the WordPress backup script you are trying to use will work Ok being called this way.

With this in mind, does anyone have any suggestions on how BUWP can be modified to support this hosting setup?

It’s worth noting that I can also manually set scripts to run from the backend of my hosting.

Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andy.

I’d be interested in hearing about it if you do find any work arounds.

Is there any part of BUWP (or a particular script) that I can set to trigger a backup using the backends built in scheduler? If not, could a version of the backup script be customised to be fired in this manner?

    Thanks,
    Andy.

You can trigger wp-cron by setting up your built in schedule to hit /wp-cron.php
