[Plugin: BackUpWordPress] BUWP is making multiple backups per day

We’re using BackUpWordPress 1.6.9, and have the backup scheduled to occur “Daily” at 11:00 PM. However, the Backup list shows that, most nights, the backup occurs several times!
This is frustrating for several reasons. For one thing, we have it set to only keep the last 10 backups so that we don’t run out of diskspace; but since the backup has occurred 10 times over the past 3 nights, we lose several days of desired backup history. It also means the server is wasting I/O resources and may perform more slowly for a longer period of time while backups are occurring.
Any ideas what is causing this?
