[Plugin: Author Image] Cannot Change or Delete Author Images

We are using the author image plug-in. Recently, we have encountered an issue in which we cannot delete or replace an author’s image. I searched for the issue in previous posts on the creator’s forum, and I found the following post from 2009:

This post suggests manually deleting and uploading the image.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to the hosted folders and I cannot manually go in and delete and replace files.

I have attempted to deactivate and reactivate the plugin, and I also deleted and recreated the author profiles experiencing this issue, but neither worked.

I cheated by switching the media folder to the author image folder and replacing an image that way, which worked for one of the author images. However, the other author image has been replaced with a tiny thumbnail, and any attempts to upload a duplicate file are thwarted: WordPress is just adding a 1 to the end of the file name.

Has anyone else encountered this issue since 2009? Is there something I can do within the dashboard, or do I need access to the folders outside of WP?
