• If I’ve understood correctly, right now it’s only possible to use this plugin to edit saved images in the Media Library.

I would love to streamline my process of inserting photos and adding attribution data. Ideally, I would like to be able to do the following.

    – Add new post
    – Click on “Insert new media”
    – Choose “From URL” and here enter the Flickr URL of the image, e.g. https://www.flickr.com/photos/USER-HERE/PIC-NR/
    – at this point, Attributron would populate the information, and I would just have to click “Insert into Post”

Any chance of accomplishing this? Thanks for the great work so far!

Come to think of it, there would maybe have to be two separate “image URL” fields.

URL 1 might be “Image page” as above, i.e. https://www.flickr.com/photos/USERNAME/PIC-NR/

URL 2 would be the “Image source” to determine size, e.g. farm8.staticflickr.com/7115/PIC-NR-HERE.jpg

Since, as far as I can tell, the actual image information isn’t saved into the database when you use the “From URL” option, we would have to enter it into the HTML on the page. So do you feel it would be best to add attribution to the image caption directly? If so, I think it can be done. Something like this:

    [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="381" caption="Caption Text Here. Image CC-BY Google.com"]<a href="Http://link.to.author.flickr.page.com/"><img alt="" src="https://ssl.gstatic.com/gb/images/j_e6a6aca6.png" title="Google CSS Srite" width="381" height="45" /></a>[/caption]

Yes exactly, a caption would solve this elegantly.
And then I suppose some CSS or settings of some sort would be nice, so the user could format the caption content, position, font size, etc.

Maybe also some way of editing how the image is linked. E.g. like

    a href="Http://link.to.author.flickr.page.com/ in your example, or also a href="Http://link.to.author.flickr.page.com/see-the-image-plus-more-information
