    Hello,

I was wondering whether it is possible to trigger a Google Analytics ‘Event’ when a YouTube video is interacted with, on my site, by using this plugin?

Important for a number of reasons – tells Google that the post is actually of value to the reader – lowers site Bounce Rate – tells me in GA what videos are of higher value due to the count number.

    Ideas?

    Thanks
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Google Analytics support is due! It may not be the next release, but should be soon.

    Thanks for the reply, David.

I’ll certainly start using the plugin once this is rolled in then. This is really important functionality when it comes to engagement as well as Google ‘seeing’ that engagement.

    Thanks
    Martin

I was wondering how this was going in the release schedule for the plugin?

It will be in the next release – I don’t have a date for it, though.

For awareness, this hasn’t made the release – adding GA tracking is extremely difficult and possibly outside of the domain of this plugin. For instance, the most popular embed method of IFRAME is running on a third party site, hence adding any tracking is not easy.

If I find a simple method of implementing it, then I’ll look into it.

    Oh that’s disappointing, David.
You can only do what you can do though. I use the IFRAME method myself too.
