• I don’t know exactly what happened, but after activating Anthologize and creating a project, my front- and back-end froze.

I’m in multisite (and had activated on only one site), so I went to the Site Admin, deleted all the files, rebuilt the database and I’m fine.

I’ll try to replicate on another sandbox server.

  • I just experienced the same problem. In my case, I fixed it by deleting the “active_plugins” row from the options table for the affected blog and then manually re-activating all but Anthologize.

Thanks, on behalf of others who may have this problem.

FYI, I also posted about this on anthologize-users: https://groups.google.com/group/anthologize-users/browse_thread/thread/798c356fb823baa6

You may want watch that thread and chime in if the developers have any questions.

Jay, are you also running 3.0.4? Did you experience this problem from the very first time you used Anthologize?

By “froze”, do you mean white screens? Or did it become unresponsive in some other way?

Yes, I was on 3.0.4, and I experienced white screens. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet had a chance to set up an instance to test each plugin for conflicts.

“Froze” for me means never loads, i.e. HTTP request sent but no response received.

Do either of you have access to your PHP or Apache error logs? Can you tell me what errors occur at the moment that your site stops responding?

I have access to my error logs. I wouldn’t expect to see anything there, though, since it’s not erroring out – it’s just spinning until it times out.

I went to double-check, and now I’m seeing a subtly different problem. I now can’t even enable Anthologize, because I get the spinning forever behavior when I click Activate. In this case, I can confirm that there is no relevant output in the error log.

Spinning with no output to the error log makes me suspect that it’s a problem with server configuration rather than with Anthologize itself. Are you running close to your maximum memory on your host? Do you know what version of PHP you are running?

No, these hosts are nowhere near memory capacity. I’m running PHP 5.1.6 (plus RedHat patches) on one and 5.2.5 on the other.

I didn’t get any white screens of death on normal blog pages), but the project export gave a white screen, with no output. I am using WP 3.1.

Are there any alternatives to anthologize? Thanks!
